See you on Tuesday

Spring 2026

We all fall victims
To the surreptitious passage of time
No matter how resourceful,
Courageous or smart,
The ground on which we tread
Gets reaped away
Sending us invariably
To sudden doom
This grand thought flew over my head
As I was watching the station clock,
Wondering anxiously what
My next moves in life would be.
And of course, even though
I keep myself busy with puzzles,
Eat my brain away with my phone,
My mind cannot stop melting into emotion
At the thought of you.
As I look at the clock again,
I feel strangely assuaged
By the surreptitious passage of time
For I feel my spirit delivered
To know myself closer to you
One second at a time,
And the clock feels like a dearest friend.
