You and I

Spring 2026

My heart often aches
From touching in thought
The shapes of happiness
You and I could draw
For at times I feel like nothing
But a senseless being
Thrown listlessly into life
Not heard nor seen
And I wonder if beyond the magic
I see in all things you do
You sometimes feel the same too.
In this world of echoes
Where we end up lost
Our lives run like seasons
That burn, then die off
So I think of the next time, when
My eyes will cross yours
I'll tell you the most beautiful
Things my mind encloses
You and I will end up in ashes anyway,
Though here I am already, just a lump of coal
With not much use but to warm your soul.
